MONK, Esther May

-

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, Esther May Monk, 86 of Kingston on June 28, 2020 in Grand View Manor. Born January 14, 1934 in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Avery and Evelyn (Sanford) Mcdow. Esther worked as a nurse’s aid in the Berwick Hospital for many years, and even in Grand View Manor, she would follow the staff around trying to help other residents. She also worked as a Sales Associate at Nova Goldsmiths, Kingsville, Ont., where she helped design lovely jewelery pieces. Esther loved to knit and donated hundreds of mittens to the needy. Esther will always be remembered as a caring and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her eight grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. Esther is survived by her children, Shelly Foster, Greenwood; Glen ( Jill) Monk, Essex, Ont.; Bonnie (Al) Spinney, Kingston; and sister, Judy Mcdow. Besides her parents, Esther was predeceased by her husband, Harold G. Monk; sonin-law, David E. Foster; brothers, Edward Mcdow and Oliver Mcdow; sister, Leona (Mcdow) Atwell. The family would like to thank Allison Hebb for always looking out for her Little Buddy (Esther), with all her visits and phone calls. The family would also like to thank the staff at Grand View Manor, for all their care, compassion and kindness shown to Esther during her stay. A private family interment will take place in North Kingston Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
