-

Age 89, of Indian Harbour, passed away on Monday June 15, 2020, in Indian Harbour. Helen was born in Bloomfield Ridge, York Co., N.B., a daughter of the late Elmer and Julia Green. Helen graduated with the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., Nursing Class of 1953 and travelled across Canada working in many of the country’s hospitals before returning to New Brunswick and marrying her husband, Orrin "David" Russell. Together they lived life working and residing in Halifax. After a rewarding nursing career at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, Helen retired and moved with her husband to Indian Harbour. Orrin "David" Russell passed away on August 14, 2015. Helen continued thereafter to live in her own home until the date of her death. Surviving are her son, Stephen Alan Russell; Stephen’s wife, Nicola Caroline Russell (Gray); and their daughters, being Helen’s four beloved granddaughters, Laura, Julia, Jessica and Samantha, all of Dartmouth. Helen is survived by her sisters, Bertha Morgan, Lorraine Bryden and Dian Shute; with her sisters, Mary Hunter and Flora Clayton; and her brothers, Delmont, William and Harry, having predeceased her. Helen is also survived by the many nieces and nephews of her family and of David’s family who she thought and spoke of often. It was Helen’s wish that there not be a funeral or a visitation and that in lieu of sending flowers and cards, it was her wish that any donations be made to a charity of choice in support of youth development or senior care. The family sends a "great big hug" and "thank you" to all of Helen’s surviving extended family members and to all of you who were part of her life!
