It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sharon Anne Akerley age 75 of Amherst, announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 in All Saints Hospital in Springhill. Born and raised in Sackville, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Evelyn (Tibbetts) Crossman. Sharon started her working career at Scotiabank, followed by Family and Children Services of Cumberland County as their Accountant. She also ran her own accounting business for many years until just last year when she had to give it up due to her declining health. Her pride and joy were her two granddaugh­ters, who brought her much happiness. She also enjoyed spending time dining out with her family and friends. Sharon will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Susan (Tim) Chisholm, Middle Sackville; and Melanie Akerley (Calvin Bennett), Halifax; granddaugh­ters, Jenna and Jamie Chisholm; several nieces and nephews; as well as her much loved yorkie, Sayrah. Besides her parents, Sharon was predecease­d by her husband, Rodger in 2016; and sisters, Arlene Steeves and Ruby Deaton. A celebratio­n of Sharon’s life will be held on Saturday, November 21st, between the hours of 2-4 p. m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (902) 667-9906. A private burial will take place in Amherst Cemetery at a later date. We kindly ask that all COVID-19 guidelines including masks and physical distancing be observed while visiting our location. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributi­ons can be made in Sharon’s memory to the Cumberland Victorian Order of Nurses, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
