WONG, Philip Ying Fai

With solemn sorrow, we inform that Philip Ying Fai Wong, born in Kowloon, Hong Kong on June 27, 1947, passed away in Halifax, on November 11, 2020. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving children and grandchild­ren, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Philip loved cooking, playing cards, watching sports, and spending time with his family and friends, of which he had many. In 1970, he graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (Bscpharm) Degree, and he further completed advanced studies abroad in Radiopharm­acy. In turn, for more than 40 years, he was a highly respected and wellknown Nuclear Pharmacist at Halifax’s Victoria General (VG Site, QEII) Hospital, where when he retired from his role, the 2 North Dispensary and Compoundin­g Lab in which he worked was renamed after him, in his honour. Philip was predecease­d by his beloved parents, Mr. Yat Wing Wong and Mrs. Wong Cheuk Shuk Ying. He was also predecease­d by his two eldest brothers, Harris Ying Kuen Wong and Brian Ying Hoi Wong. Philip is survived by his sons, Jason Wah Kay Wong and Kevin Wah Kin Wong; by his daughters-in-law, Angela Macdonald and Liwen Luo; by his grandchild­ren through Jason and Angela, Abigail Jeunmeiwon­g and Ethan Jeun Lai Wong; by his grandchild­ren through Kevin and Liwen, Alexander Wai Yip Wong and Kendrick Wai Shing Wong; by Christina Sai Yin Chui, mother of Jason and Kevin; and by his brothers/sisters and their families around the world: Mrs. Amy (Harris) Wong, Mrs. Amy (Brian) Wong, Lilian Po Chun Wong, Marion Yim Chun Wong, James Ying Kin Wong, Amy Yuk Chun Wong, Rita Lai Chun Wong, Helena Oi Chunwong; and Ringo Ying Ho Wong. A public visitation in Philip’s memory will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home at 6552 Bayers Rd. in Halifax on Saturday, November 21st, from 3-5 p.m. Atlantic Time. A formal service in his memory will be held at the same location, on Sunday, November 22nd, at 11 a.m. Atlantic Time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Philip’s honour may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
