Age 94, passed away on November 19, 2020 in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital in Musquodobo­it Harbour. Born in East Chezzetcoo­k on December 24, 1925, he was a son of Augustin Colford and Helen Bonin. He attended Hoperidge School in East Chezzetcoo­k. He worked at Imperial Oil Refinery in Eastern Passage until the Second World War broke out at which time he joined the Army and went to Kingston, Ont. for training. In August 1945 he was on his way to fight in the Pacific when the war was declared over. He came back to Imperial Oil for work until his retirement in 1974. Our father was a hardworkin­g, honest, kind and loving father and husband. He worked tirelessly to help establish St. Anne of the Lake Church in Lake Echo and encouraged all his family to do their part in the activities and care of the church. He helped establish a boy’s ball team and supported many community projects in Lake Echo. He was a volunteer at the Halifax County Hospital in Cole Harbour where he would help patients attend weekly church service. He was an active member of Lake Echo Seniors Club for many years. He was a member of Lake Echo Ecumenical Choir and St. Anne’s Choir for many years. He is survived by daughters, Doreen Pettipas, Helen Marks (George), Judy Johnson (Bob) and Pat Connolly (Jerry); and son, Jim (Mary); seven grandchild­ren; seven greatgrand­children; two step grandsons; one step great-grandson; brother-in-law, Donald Mcdow ( Betty); sisters- in- law, Shirley Mcdow, Winnie Conrad, Mary Newell and many nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by his wife, Audrey (Mcdow); parents; sister, Muriel Burns and her husband Arthur; brother, Harry Colford and his wife Beulah (Craig). Cremation has taken place. The funeral will take place at a later date.
