TRUONG (Du), Trinh Ngoc

-

July 8, 1949 to November 26, 2020. It is with deep sorrow that our family shares the loss of Trinh Ngoc Truong ( Du) of Bedford on November 26, 2020. Trinh is survived by her loving and faithful husband, Hien Van Truong; their children: Lien (Trang Nguyen), Hoa (Bradley White), Binh (Geoff Stone), Nhung (Ben Levy) and Hai Son; and their beloved grandchildren: Natalie, Jalen, and Brandon (Nguyen) and Hannah, Hayden, and Norah (White). Trinh is also survived by her brothers, Hy and Phat; her large extended family and many friends who will miss her dearly. Trinh was predeceased by her parents, Phuong Thieu Du and Anh Que Ly (of Guangdong, China) who rest peacefully in Vietnam along with her brothers, Nguyen, Lai, Quang, and Minh; and sisters, Lan and Mai. Born in Ca Mau, Vietnam, Trinh spent the early part of her married life in Long Xuyen before embarking on a dangerous journey by boat in 1979 with her husband and four young girls in search of freedom after the Vietnam War. It was with great courage and resilience that Trinh gave birth to her son at a refugee camp in Malaysia, before arriving on the shores of Nova Scotia in January 1980 where she and her husband raised their children in the town of Bedford, embracing life in Canada. Trinh and Hien were married for 50 years. They were true life companions and rarely apart. Together, they enjoyed tending to their beautiful garden, going on scenic walks and drives, listening to music, and traveling across Canada and around the world to visit their children and grandchildren. A most loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, Trinh was affectionately called "Nanny" by her six grandchildren. We will remember her gentle voice, thoughtfully-sewn dresses, pyjamas and housecoats, lovingly prepared meals, and meaningful phone calls and cards. Trinh never forgot a birthday. She was always giving, never asking anything in return. Trinh was a woman of strength and many talents. She was a skilled seamstress, gardener and cook - her delicious egg rolls were legendary at Bedford Baptist Church potlucks. From an early age, Trinh’s keen intellect was praised by teachers. Trinh carried a passion for learning all through her life and passed it on to her children. A strong woman of faith, Trinh was supportive of her children’s dreams and prayed for them daily. Trinh loved her church family, and was equally loved by them in return, especially the ladies groups that she was a part of throughout the years. Always quick to help, Trinh did so with a kind smile and a humble, gentle spirit. To know Trinh was to love her and to be loved by her. She lived with love, care and consideration for those around her. We will miss Trinh immeasurably, and will never forget the sunshine and warmth she brought everywhere she went. As many of her friends have remarked, Heaven has gained the sweetest and most beautiful angel. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Ivy Meadows for their love and care for Trinh. Thank you also to the nurses and doctors at the QEII for their compassion. A private interment will take place for family only. A Celebration of Life will be held next year in Bedford Baptist Church, pending restrictions. Cards and condolences can be sent by mail to the Truong Family, c/o Bedford Baptist Church, PO Box 44073, Bedford, NS B4A 3X5 or by email to: office@bedfordbaptist.ca Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
