Age 85, of Charleston, Queens Co., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, in Ryan Hall, Bridgewate­r. Born in Charleston, Erma was a daughter of the late Elisha Hastings and Lillian (Firth) Parnell. In Erma’s younger years, she was a member of the Hollow Log Rifle and Pistol Club, where she earned the Dominion Marksmansh­ip. Erma was an active member of the Anglican Church Guild and also taught Sunday school. A devoted homemaker raising nine children, she still found time to enjoy walking, going to the beach, dancing, music, flowers, feeding the birds and bowling. If Erma could, she would adopt every baby she came upon and was most happy when surrounded by her family. Erma is survived by her daughters, Wendy Skinner of Lacombe, Alta.; Shelley (Kevin) Deveau of East Port Medway; sons, Jody ( Kathleen Naylor) of Chester Grant; Blake (Joannewent­zell) of Charleston; Neal (Wendy Kelly - Conrad) of Dartmouth; Scott (Victoria) of Mill Village; Corey (Tina) of Mill Village; Reid (Bonnie) of Portuguese Cove; and Darren of Vogler’s Cove; 11 grandchild­ren and nine greatgrand­children; brothers, Wallace of Cookville and Douglas (Judy) of Charleston. Besides her parents, Erma was predecease­d by her husband, Carmon; son, Dale; sisters, Mildred Woodsworth, Esther Delong, Elsie Freeman, Edra Wentzell; and brothers, Malcolm, Ross, Arthur and Leon. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A private graveside service will take place in New Charleston Cemetery at a later date, Rev.
