Age 66, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2020 in the VG Site, QEII, in the presence of her loving husband Neil and sister Frances. Born in Halifax she was a daughter of Marion (Stevens) and the late Everett Wiswell. Karen was a dedicated employee of the Nova Scotia Health Authority for 35 years working as a Lab Technologi­st in Halifax. Along with her warm and caring nature, Karen was known for her creativity. She loved crafting, often gifting her creations to others for them to treasure. Karen loved cats, and when home, Kayla and Scrappy were often by her side. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed her favourite teams the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. After retirement, Karen and Neil enjoyed travelling, in particular to Florida in the winters and Alberta to visit their son Grant and his family. Karen leaves behind her devoted spouse of 40 years, Neil, who was steadfastl­y at her side during this journey; son, Grant (Nancy), Alberta; beloved grandchild­ren, Liam Neil and Lily May; mother, Marion Wiswell; sisters, Frances (Randy), Joanne (late Ken), Judy (Doug), all of Dartmouth; in-laws, Charlene (Francis), Ed and Eveylena (Donald). Arrangemen­ts under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, Dartmouth Chapel. Due to COVID-19 restrictio­ns, a celebratio­n of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. The family would like to extend deep gratitude to the doctors, nurses and homecare workers for their compassion and care, especially the staff at 5A for their support over the past 12 days.
