MEADE, John William "Jack"

-

Age 74 of Halifax. It is with a happy heart that I lived a full and wonderful life. I had much to be thankful for, a loving family and many friends. I was born in Halifax on a wintery day in December 1945 to loving parents John and Beatrice ( Bursey) Meade. I have now joined my siblings gone before me; sisters, Betty, Geraldine, and Helen; brother, Jim. I leave my loving spouse, Christine (Hayes) Matheson; daughters, Kelly ( Bruce) Mackellar, Kathryn (Derick) Purdy, Krista Gabriel (Randy Holland); stepchildren, Mike (Chrissy) Matheson and Jenn (Graeme) Billo; sisters, Sally (Roland) King, Sandra (Wilfred) King, Evelyn (Jim) Lewis; sisterin-law, Frances Meade. I was blessed with grandchildren, Drew, Jocelyn, Liam, Ainsley, Bridget Gregor; step grandchildren, Ellie, and Lucy; greatgrandchildren, Violet and Poppy; many nieces and nephews. I had a long and varied 30-year career with Canada Post before retiring in 1994. Retirement kept me busy, I started my own business, Meade Delivery Services. I was Function Coordinator at CFB Halifax C&PO’S Mess and Mess Manager at Halifax Armouries Wo&sgt’s Mess. Christine and I spent many happy years at Lake Pleasant Campground. I proudly served as an Executive Member of CFB Halifax C&PO’S Mess. I was honoured to receive recognition to commemorate my "unwavering support and commitment" at my Celebration of Life in August. I am thankful for all the lasting friendships I have made over the years. My heartfelt appreciation goes out to my Palliative Care Team, especially Monica. Cremation and arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 Mcquade Lake Cres., Halifax. Services are to be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society. As Jack was often known to say, "See you at the Mess".
