BONANG, Frederick Joseph "Bucky"
Age 90, Halifax, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. Born in Waverley, on May 29, 1930, he was a son of the late Joseph and Blanche (Stacey) Bonang. As a young man he was employed as a stevedore at the Halifax waterfront and later worked with the Halifax School Board for many years until his retirement. Fred was a hard-working man throughout his life, a very loving father and grandfather to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very soft-hearted and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, blueberry picking and family camping trips to Keji. He was a lifelong fan of the Torontomaple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. He loved music and singing and was still singing some of his favourite songs right up until the last few months of his life. He and Hazel loved their many shopping trips to Bangor, Me. Fred will be greatly missed by sons, David (Susan), Halifax; Stephen ( Julie), Timberlea; daughters, Judith (Jeff) Williams, Waxahachie, Tex.; Leslie ( Jon) Wilson, Hubley; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jordan, Matthew and Kaitlin; and great-grandchildren, Morgan and Evan. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Hazel; they are now happily reunited in Heaven. He was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters. The family would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to the staff of Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax for the care and compassion given to our Dad over the several years he was a resident there and especially in the final few weeks of his life. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation and private interment will take place in Saint John’s Columbarium, Halifax. A father is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way.
