Age 62, Chester, passed away December 4, 2020. Joanne was a daughter of the late Mona "Freda" (Foley) Stevens (of Chester); the late William Foley (Yarmouth); stepdaught­er of the late Emery Stevens (Chester); and birth daughter of the late Rosalie (Garvey) Vincent (Antigonish). She was a graduate of NSCC where she pursued studies that led her to her work as a Teaching Assistant with the Halifax Regional School Board. Joanne’s devoted long-term partner, Reg Haines remained by her bedside throughout her final days. She is survived by Reg; her fur baby Ralphie; and Reg’s children and grandchild­ren. She will be forever in the memories of her brother, David (Sue) Foley, Chester; her siblings, Tanya ( Lawrence) Vincent and Jeff Vincent, Antigonish. She will also be remembered by her surviving stepsiblin­gs, Greg (Kerry) Stevens, Chester; Len (Gail) Stevens, Chester Basin; Dennis (Marlene) Stevens, Lunenburg; Trudy (Chris) Stevens, British Columbia; Rod Stevens, her Cameron relatives, Antigonish and area; and her many nieces and nephews who will remember her enveloping hugs and warmth. Her family would like to thank the friends that have reached out during her illnesses and especially thank the compassion­ate staff at South Shore Regional Hospital for their care in her final days. They would also like to thank Drs. Reza and Jolene Jarvis for their ongoing care throughout the years. Joanne will be remembered as a person with a big heart and a big smile. Despite her many health issues, she always maintained a positive and optimistic outlook on life. Her generous, caring, and compassion­ate nature will live on in all who knew her. A celebratio­n of Joanne’s life will take place in the spring of 2021. She loved the spring and the hope that it provided for a new year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to South Shore Hospice Palliative Care Society Fund, Canadian Cancer Society, or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
