HEIGHTON, Roland Fraser

-

Roland Fraser Heighton, born in New Glasgow, son of the late Roland and Marjorie (Douglas) Heighton. With gratitude and love for a life well-lived, the family announces his passing on December 2, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. Fraser had a long career with HMCS Dockyard since 1974 as a Millwright retiring after 39 years of service. He loved his work and strove for perfection in every project he touched. He enjoyed building and racing his remote control cars and later his boats. On the closing of his parents home he discovered in the attic quite a few of his Dinkys from the 60’s, he spent the coming years on expanding that collection. Many trips were made to antique stores across the province to find special pieces to add to his collection and many hours were spent in his workroom repairing pieces that he had collected. Fraser was a loving and involved Dad to his two daughters and a dedicated Grandpa to his three grandchildren, he loved being at the rink for Ethan’s and Kole’s hockey games and attending Abby’s dance recitals. He was an amazing dedicated Dad and grandpa who made time for each one of his kids and his grandchildren. They were the light of his life. Many travels were enjoyed over the years on many trips to New York City and many cruises with family. Summer family vacations were always looked forward to at Pictou Lodge with a house full of kids and dinners for 12 to 15 family around. Our annual Christmas party was well-known where we welcomed as many as 40 friends who would drop by for a bite to eat or a toast, with their kids or grandkids and usually Santa or the elves showed up with a gift for the kids. So many happy, wonderful memories have been made over the years with our family during these times and will be cherished by us forever and Dad was always the centre of it. He was our Rock, our Cheerleader, our shoulder to cry on and our constant supporter. He was so proud of his "girls" and all that they had accomplished and especially proud of the incredible grandchildren that he was blessed with. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 41 years, Nancy (Fogarty); loving daughters, Lisa Heighton (Craig Parsons), Katie Langille (Nathan); Fraser was grandpa to Ethan and Abby Parsons, and Kole Langille; his brother, John Heighton (Coleen), Pictou; ne phews, Stephen, Ontario; Sandy Pictou; and niece, Carolyn Boyd (Ryan) of Edmonton. In keeping with Fraser’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral at this time. Online condolences may be made by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com (Dartmouth Chapel).

"Rest my Love, We are so much better people because we have had you in our life and we will see you in every butterfly that passes and every sunset that we see." Rest until we see you again.
