-

Gone to be with his Lord and Saviour in St. Joseph’s Hospital on Friday, December 4, 2020, John Gordon Mccurdy of Binbrook. The family is grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team of doctors and nurses in its Behaviour Health Unit. Beloved husband of Kathie Hibbins. Predeceased by his parents, Lena and Hugh Mccurdy (of Sydney); and by his wife, Betty Mccurdy. Much- loved father of John Mccurdy and Katherine Mccurdy-lapierre and father-in-law to her husband Dave. Cherished Papa of Evangeline; and brother of Barbara Bosher (Michael) of Sarnia; and Virginia Mccurdy of Halifax. Will be missed by cousins, Douglas Mccurdy (Gerri) of London, Ont.; Sheila Mccurdy of Wolfville; Ross Mccurdy (Grace) of Halifax; and Richard (Barbara) of Baddeck; and the many other members of his family. Gord, as a father and husband, was gentle, patient, kind, good-hearted, quick to smile and laugh, and provided a strong, quiet foundation for his family. A man of faith and dedicated member of his church communities, he served as a deacon, youth leader, volunteer driver, and member of multiple visitation teams. A giving and generous community member, Gord faithfully donated blood and plasma and was recognized in 2015 for reaching his 100th donation. His many friends, who he loved to meet with over coffee, were integral to his life. Born and raised in Cape Breton, the island and its people remained deeply important to him and he cherished his trips out east. A celebration of life will take place in 2021. The family would appreciate that memorial gifts go to St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, Behaviour Health Unit ( stjoesfoundation.ca) or a mission of your choice.
