It is with heavy hearts the family of Douglas Archibald "Doug" Seamone, P.eng., age 86, announces his passing Thursday, December 3, 2020 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He was also known to many as Grampie Doug, G Doug, and Papa Doug. Born in Bridgewate­r, he was a son of the late Archibald and Helen (Barry) Seamone. Doug was founder and part owner of Hiltz & Seamone Company Limited. He was a former Nova Scotia Land Surveyor, Dean of Applied Sciences and Associate Professor at Acadia University. Doug was a former member and Past President of the Kentville Lions Club, Past President of APENS (Engineers Nova Scotia), and member of the Glooscap Curling Club and Eagle Crest Golf Course, where he was the unofficial "Course Ranger" and successful­ly achieved a hole- in- one, three times. He is survived by children, Alison Seamone, Leslie Seamone and Archie ( Laura) Seamone, all of Kentville; grandchild­ren, Lacey (Barry) Hillier, Greens Harbour, N.L.; Meghan Seamone, and Douglas "Dal" Seamone (Luta Hansen), Halifax; great-grandchild­ren, Nixon and Brady; brother, Lorne (Karen), Whitby, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by his wife, Florence "Marie"; brothers, Charles and Richard; and an infant sister. His wit, smile, charm, and twinkle in his eye will be missed by many. Cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank Dr. J.P. Mccarthy, Dr. R.G. Lloyd, Dr. M.T. Mulherin, Nurse Practition­er Jacqueline Green, Dr. M. Keough, the nurses on the Surgical floor of Valley Regional Hospital, and Annapolis Valley VON. Due to COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictio­ns, a funeral service and celebratio­n of Doug’s life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Garden of Rest Cemetery, Anglican Parish of St. James, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to St. James Anglican Church, Kentville or Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses.
