It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of mother, grandmothe­r, great- grand mother, friend on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the age of 86 after a valiant fight with cancer in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Scotch Village May 12, 1934. Helen was the daughter of the late Gordon and Marion (Rose) Sanford. Helen worked with Maritime Tel & Tel in Windsor; for Seniors in the Rawdon area; at Rainbow Farms for 19 years and Larry and Joyce Macphee for nine years. She was a blood donor and gave 115 donations. She was a member of Rawdon Hills United Church, Treasurer of the Centre Rawdon U.C.W. for 27 years; member of the Walton drop-in Seniors, Burlington Seniors, Senior Fellowship Cafe and an avid 45 card player. She went to the card parties every Saturday night in Rawdon Gold Mines, ( Thanks Shirley). Helen loved her home and would rather be there than anywhere else. Her favorite television program was the News. She followed the Blue Jays, never gave up on the Maple Leaf’s and watched curling. She went to the one-room schoolhous­e in Scotch Village and Windsor Academy High travelling by train. Helen made the best mincemeat and made numerous pies for Christmas orders. She made jams andjellies for family and friends; crab apple jelly was the all favorite. Helen’s favorite hymn was Preciouslo­rd. Kyle, Eric, Braydan and Carter, I will miss your hockey and ball games, hit a home run for Gram! She is survived by her son, Duncan (Lisa); grandsons, Christophe­r, Matthew (Rebecca), Andrew, Kyle, Eric; great-grandsons, Braydan and Carter; brothers, Harold, James, Dowell (Shirley), David (Sharon); sister, Joyce Rogers ( Stephen). Helen was predecease­d by her parents,; her husband, Claude in 1990; son, Christophe­r 2015. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Judy (Garnet); sister- in- law, Mary Campbell; brother-in-law, Willard Campbell. She was also predecease­d by sister-in-law, Betty Sanford in 2005; and daughterin-law, Mary Ann Campbell in 2016. Gram is loved beyond words by her grandsons. She will be forever in their hearts. Gram’s life was her family. Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation by request. A private family committal service will take place in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery in Center Rawdon at a later date, Rev. Linton Worall officiatin­g. "Hug your children".
