Of Dartmouth. It is with profound sadness that the family of Stewart Arnold George "Mickey" announces his passing on December 11, 2020 at the age of 86. Mickey was born in Dartmouth in April of 1934. He was the son of the late Charles and Agnes (Cullen) George. In his early years, Mickey worked at Community Groceria in Dartmouth, later Canada Packers until the plant in Halifax closed. He worked for Starr Manufactur­ing until his retirement in 1996. Mickey also worked part-time as ice patrol at the Dartmouth Memorial Rink and Gray Arena for many years. He enjoyed both playing and coaching hockey and baseball. Mickey was a community volunteer, neighbourh­ood handyman, card and dart player. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworkin­g. Mickey was a member of the Independen­t Order of Foresters and looked forward to their annual camping weekend in Windsor. Wakey, wakey! Mickey was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Club at Dartmouth North Community Centre. Mickey is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen (Craig);, children, Craig (Debbie) George, Patricia (Scott) Sears, Perry (Paula) George, and Christophe­r George; sister, Margo Ritchie; and brother, Frederick "Fred" George, both of Dartmouth; grandchild­ren, Melissa (Rob), Joshua ( Jessica), Nicholas (Carleigh), Gregory, Bradley, Katie, and Jessica; greatgrand­children, Chase, Cassie, Naiia, and Henry; along with many nieces and nephews. Mickey was predecease­d by brothers, Henry "Harry", Robert "Bob", Alfred "Alfie", John "Jack", Charles "Pete"; sisters, Mary, Frances "Fanny", Helen, and Lillian. Due to COVID-19 restrictio­ns, a celebratio­n of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice.
