It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mervin Roosevelt Lowe, age 87 of Canard. He passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2020 surrounded by his loving family and cared for by his devoted wife, Effie. He worked for 38 years with The Bank of Nova Scotia. He enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, trapping and camping. He was an avid gardener, master card player and a great joke and storytelle­r. He also enjoyed many years volunteeri­ng as a Boy Scout leader. Mervin was predecease­d by his parents, Annie Mae Mossman and Angus St. Clair Lowe; and brothers, Emerson, Halden and Erlin. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Effie; son, David "Jake" (Heather); daughter, Melody (Darrell); granddaugh­ter, Andrea (Troy); grandsons, Bradley (Jessica), Jason (Emily); sister, Ramona (Aubrey) "Bob"; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A private service will be held in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A public graveside committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16th in Canard Burial Ground, Rev. Ivan Norton officiatin­g. Due to pandemic restrictio­ns, social distancing will be observed and masks are recommende­d. Donations in memory of Mervin may be made to Arlington United Baptist Church or the Trappers Associatio­n of Nova Scotia.
