Age 78 of Dartmouth, passed away December 9, 2020 at home with her daughters by her side. Born in Halifax she was a daughter of the late Walter and Violet (Hillier) Jewers. Mom was a mother, first and foremost, the love and pride she had for each of us was well known. Everyone knew how much she loved her family whether it was a friend or stranger we were always the topic of conversati­on. Mom worked as a Teachers Aid in Toronto, Ont., until returning home to Halifax in the early 80’s. Mom then became a hairdresse­r and worked for many years throughout Dartmouth until retirement. After retirement her focus was caring for her mother. Mom was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife and friend, she was loved by all who knew her. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Ann Munro (Phil), Dartmouth; Jacqueline (Karl), Halifax; son, John ( Julia), Bridgewate­r; brothers, Keith, Vancouver, B.C.; and John (Carole), Fort Mcmurray, Alta.; grandchild­ren, Donald (Dana), Stephanie (Holly), Brittany, Benjamin (Emily), Amy ( Jeremy); great-grandchild­ren, Brody, Skyler, Laney, Brayden and Evelyn; nieces and nephews, Gary, Tony, Chris, Earl, Amie and Matthew. Besides her parents, Shirley was predecease­d by her brother, Eugene; and sister, Julia Warren; and former husband, John Nehiley. Cremation has taken place under the care of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Due to COVID-19 restrictio­ns a Memorial Service will be held on a later date. Interment will also take place in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
