JENKINS, Catherine

-

Age 90 years, "Kevin, Ricky, Mary"... could be heard from mum’s voice yelling out the window of our two bedroom apartment in "Jellybean Square", where one of the four of us took turns sleeping on the sofa. It would be nothing for mum to pack us kids up with a bag of ready light charcoal, hot dogs and beverages catching the bus or taking the ferry and walking over to Point Pleasant Park where we could enjoy the woods, water and a BBQ. She was born December 5, 1930 and passed on December 13, 2020, having recently celebrated her 90th birthday. Mum was the daughter of the late Archie and Dolly Mclean (of Donkin, Dominion No. 6, Cape Breton). Her life was an incredible journey, fromworking with the nuns and converting to Catholicism, to almost becoming a nun; we children are grateful you didn’t by the way. Mum knew love and loss well and put her children first. She was a respected woman with morals and values. Often sitting at her kitchen table with friends while Newfie "30" or Motown played from the radio. She enjoyed the old Black and White shows and movies on cc tv right up til the end. Her smile was, and is, legendary and she could have easily been a living ad for the Pepsi Company. Grandchildren Cody Lee and Sioux will continue on with your legacy while Cree "who makes the best cup of tea ever" will have the kettle on in heaven with you always. Thank you Northwood 8C and staff. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Bide Awhile Animal Shelter (Dartmouth)
