Age 87, of Lawrenceto­wn, Annapolis Co., passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020, with his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth ( Fitz Randolph), at his side. He was retired from Thompson Moving and Storage, Middleton, where he worked for 42 years. Wendell enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially at Big River Camp with Charlie. In addition to Elizabeth, Wendell is survived by sons, Bruce (Susan), Puerto Vallarta, Mex.; James ( Janet), Upper Tantallon; and Allen (Pamela), Halifax; grandchild­ren, Alexandra (Mike), Hailey, Madison, Jacob, Kaitlyn; greatgrand­son, Sullivan; sister-in-law, Catherine Lowe; nieces and nephew. He was predecease­d by his mother, Edith Mcgregor Scargill; granddaugh­ter, Carley Macgregor; Elizabeth’s parents, Pearl (Hupman) and Albert Fitz Randolph; and brother-in-law, Arthur Lowe. Wendell served faithfully in the Lawrenceto­wn & District Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years, attaining the rank of Captain. He served on the Lawrenceto­wn Pool Building Committee as well as the new Fire Hall Building Committee. Although Wendell was a very quiet man, he could surprise you with his humour. Wendell was very supportive of the boys growing up with all their sporting events. Wendell’s grandchild­ren were his pride and joy. The family is at ease knowing that Carley will greet him as they reunite and catch up on old times. The family would like to sincerely thank the VON for their many years of excellent care while Wendell was at home and the Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre for their exemplary care while he was a resident. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, December 19th, at 11 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrenceto­wn, officiated by Rev. Eugene Foster with COVID-19 safety protocols in place. All are welcome. Donations in memory may be made to the Lawrenceto­wn & District Volunteer Fire Department or the Fairview Cemetery, Lawrenceto­wn.
