It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Eric Lavers (80 years old) on December 12th, 2020, in the Halifax Infirmary QEII after a brief illness, non COVID-19 related, his family was by his side. He was born to John (Delmore) and Kathleen (Fraser) Lavers in Halifax, and remained in the Halifax Regional Municipali­ty all his life. He earned his accounting designatio­n through correspond­ence study while raising a young family. He was an accomplish­ed man with a very generous heart. His work career spanned 34 years with the Finance Department, Province of Nova Scotia with the last years up to retirement (1994) as the Provincial Tax Commission­er. In his private life, he was a Mason, active member of St John’s Lodge #2 and the Royal Order of Scotland. A Christian man of faith, he was a member of Anglican Cathedral Church of All Saints, Halifax. Throughout his life, he generously gave of his time and experience to friends, multiple businesses and causes dear to his heart. He was Treasurer for The Dartmouth Masonic Bingo Foundation where he worked for 22 years following retirement from the Province. He was a selftaught oil painting artist, focusing on land and seascapes. He had great interest in sports, United States of America politics, cruising, bus tours, playing golf, a good game of cards and good single malt scotch. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sandra Lavers (Herman). They were high-school sweetheart­s who retained their love and deep respect for each other throughout the course of their marriage. Laughter and caring came in abundance with him, in every situation, especially seen in summers at their cottage in Bramber, or at their recent winter destinatio­n in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was someone you could always count on. He was a pillar in our family providing unconditio­nal support, love and always a kind word. Family was his greatest joy. A devoted husband, father, grandfathe­r and a wonderful role model for all of us to carry forward. Survived by, daughter, Jennifer Davidson (Mark); son, Paul Lavers (Debbie); grandchild­ren, Kate Lavers, Simon Lavers, and Ella Davidson. Siblings, John Lavers (Helen) Saskatchew­an; Barbara O’brien (Roy), Dartmouth; Mary White, Upper Rawdon; relative Ronald Lavers, Halifax; and Sister-in-law, Marilyn Cameron (John) of Halifax. Also survived by numerous loving and special nieces, nephews and cousins. Many thanks to the medical staff of the Halifax Infirmary QEII for their care over the last few weeks.
