Leah Linthorne dies at age 105

LINTHORNE (Himmelman), Leah Adelaide

Passed peacefully in her own home in Kingston, Ont., on Friday, December 18, 2020. Descended from German settlers who arrived in Halifax, 1754, on the Gale, Leah was born November 4, 1915 in Bayport (now Middle South), Lunenburg Co. Third daughter of Charles Norman Himmelman and Ivymae Winters, she was predecease­d by her siblings: Lyola ( Jack Tobin), Vera (Gordon Culp), Charles (Mary), Norman, Pearle (George Ireland), and by her husband of 67-plus years, Harold Thomas Linthorne (1913-2010). Long-time residents of Lakeview (Mississaug­a), 19472007 when they moved to Kingston to be close to their daughter Sandra (Philippe) Baille and their grandsons Jean-paul ( Montse Cervera-escofet) and MarcAndre ( Jessica Fox). Their son Gary (Lynne Ware) lives in West Lahave; and their sons: Cory (Katia Flors) in Nicaragua and Shane (Deanne) in Fergus, Ont. She is survived also by her greatgrand­children: Liam and EmmaGrace Linthorne, Mateo LinthorneF­lors, Vinyet and Heura BailleCerv­era and Serenity and Arya Fox. The family wishes to thank Dr. Sharma and all the technician­s at Hotel Dieu Eye Clinic and especially Stacey, Sandra "Abby", and Linda of KDHS, whose loving care allowed her to remain in her home according to her wishes. For attentive palliative care we thank these same three wonderful women and nurse Chelsea of CBI. Nanny was a caregiver all her life, a fiercely independen­t and sometimes stubborn woman whose family always came first. We thank her for 105 years of love.
