REDMOND, Nellie

Age 91, Thorburn, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 19, 2020 in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her children. Born in Leicester, England, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Harriet Jessie Louisa ( Wells) Fuller. Nellie immigrated to Canada at the age of 21 and had been employed at the Peter Panmotel for several years. She was an avid gardener; people would stop by her home to admire her flowers and request plant cuttings to beautify their own gardens. In later years, Nellie spent many enjoyable hours admiring the flowers planted for her outside her window. She was a passionate letter writer and cherished the relationsh­ips she acquired with all her pen pals. Nellie was a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, sister, aunt, and friend. Surviving are her son, Chris Redmond, Pine Tree; daughters, Barbara Redmond, Stellarton; Kim (Duane) Rutledge, Linacy; foster son, Phillip Brown (Rebecca), Kentville; granddaugh­ters, Jordan Rutledge (Josh), Trenton; Robyn Rutledge ( Brandon), Hammonds Plains; sister, Joan Wass, Red Deer, Alta.; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by her husband, Duncan; siblings, Jessie, Ralph, John and Mary. The family will receive visitors 2- 4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 28th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where a private funeral service will be held. Interment will be in Heatherdal­e Memorial Gardens. Nellie’s family wishes to thank the Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses for their care and dedication over the years. They also wish to thank the wonderful staff of Aberdeen Hospital, Emergency, 4th floor and Intensive Care units for their compassion and care.
