HARNISH (Monk), Anita "Mickey"

-

Age 80 (1940-2020), of Dartmouth. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Anita Shirley Anne Theresa Harnish (Monk) in Dartmouth General Hospital on December 31, 2020. She has joined her husband Vernon, parents Wilford and Thelma and brother Bim in Heaven. Her husband, Vernon, has been patiently waiting for nine years for her to be by his side again. Her memory lives on in her children, Timothy, Kimberly (Marty Crossley), Kevin and Todd; grandchildren, Kristina, Holly, Timothy, Mathew and Jake; her siblings Grace, Marion, Sylvia, Hubba, Nancy, and Penny; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mickey worked at Hermes Electronics in her late teens and that is where she met the love of her life. She became a stay at home mom after her third child and ran a successful family greenhouse business for over 30 years alongside her husband. Since the passing of Vernon, she suffered many health obstacles which she faced as she did everything in life...head on and fighting the whole way. Mickey was a very strong, kind and tough woman and never one to candycoat words, she told you straight out what she thought and with no filters. We can not thank the staff at Dartmouth General enough for the care and kindness they had shown mom and our family through this difficult time. As per Mickey’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service but there will be a private family service and celebration of her life at a later date. Cremation will take place at Cole Harbour Funeral Home & Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
