Age 95, of French Village, Halifax Co., passed away on January 4, 2021 in the VG Site, QEII. Born in French Village, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Mildred Burchell. Joyce was a member of White Caps Senior Club where she enjoyed card games and bowling. She loved her gardens, especially loved flowers and her vegetable garden. When she was younger she enjoyed countless times fishing in St. Margaret’s Bay with George and going to dances where she first met George. Joyce is survived by daughters, Mildred (Eric) Johnson, Saint John, N. B.; Sandra White, Middle Sackville; Faye (Paul) Pelrine, Mount Uniacke; Judith (Geno) Pace, Prospect Bay; sons, Michael, Middle Sackville; Bernard (Linda), Glen Haven; Vincent (Michele), Glen Haven; Peter ( Janet), Dartmouth; half-sister, Alison (Ross) Bowness; brothers, Chester (Christie) Burchell, Victor (Donna) Burchell; 17 grandchild­ren; 23 great-grandchild­ren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by her husband, George Thomas Covey; brothers, Ross, Clarence, Douglas; halfbrothe­r, James, and half-sister, Patricia. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 8th at 1 p.m. by invitation only in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville with Rev. Brianna Andrews officiatin­g with interment to follow in Oakridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anglican Parish of French Village.
