COOPER, Raymond Anthony

-

Age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughters on January 2, 2021. Born December 8, 1937, Raymond was the first son of Raymond Anthony (of Halifax) and Margaret Hudson (Sturgess) Cooper (New Haven). He had a full and lengthy career as a truck driver with Burgess Transfer and later as an independent broker for United Van Lines. He was well-known as a hardworking man and one his fellow drivers could always depend on. In later years he retired and joined his wife Sandra in their Sanjo Ceramic business. "Doctor Ceramic", as he was lovingly called, boasted that no one ever looked so good in a white lab coat. Ray and Sandra were well-known in craft circles and enjoyed working together. After the death of his first wife, Sandra (Mills) he was blessed to meet the second love of his life, Emmie Aucoin. For 15 years they enjoyed a full and happy life with friends and family. They loved to socialize, travel and rarely missed their Sunday cribbage club. Although the deaths of Sandra and Emmie were heartbreaking, he often spoke of how lucky he was to have two beautiful women in his life. Ray was also predeceased by siblings, Joan, Shirley, Barbara, Gerald and Lawrence. He is survived by daughters, Mary Chisholm (Kevin) and Joan Mckeough (Bill); stepdaughters, Nicole Holland, Jackie Webster and Dana Montgomery; grandchildren, Jamie Chisholm, Rae Sirotic (Matco), Daniel Cheverie (Dawn) and Tara Arthur (Ryan); step grandchildren, Joseph and Louis Holland; great-grandchildren, Maddox, Luka, Jordyn, Brooklynn, Harrison, Avery and Griffin; siblings, Nancy, Kathy, Paul and Joseph. Ray will be long remembered for the twinkle in his eye, fun personality and sweet dance moves. He was a fiercely loyal man with a strong love and dedication to his family. Although we are grateful for his peaceful passing, if love could have saved him, he would be with us forever. Special thanks to Ray’s loving family at Arbourstone Enhanced Care. There are no words to express how thankful we are for his care. Arrangements have been made with A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home in Dartmouth.
