SMITH, Philip James
May 16, 1962 - January 6, 2021. Born in Lunenburg, raised in Belleoram, N.L. His passion was singing and playing guitar, collecting them and driving in his Dodge Challenger. He was a fisherman most of his life; also worked with the Canadian Coast Guard, helped with the Swiss Air tragedy, then worked for Composites Atlantic where he became ill. He had a kidney transplant, and had been struggling with his diabetes and heart failure. He is survived by his wife, Terri-lyn D. Smith of Oakhill; his boys, Cody A. Smith (Felicia and Rylie) of Oromocto, N.B.; and Dylan J. Smith (Isabella) of Oromocto; Chris Smith of Bridgewater; his father, Allen Smith (Patricia) of Pleasantville; his sister, Tammy Langile (Bruce); and niece, nephews, great-nieces, and cousins. He very much appricated his great friends and was very thankful for the friends (Barry and Jane Conrad) who helped this family through this hard time. Philip was predeceased by his mother, Rhoda; and his grandmother, Sarah. The family would like to thank all the doctors involved with Philip’s health, Dr. Ferugson, Dr. Robertson, Dr. Macdonald and Dr. Gowan; and all the nurses at South Shore Regional and Queens County General Hospitals. No funeral services; thank you to Halifax Regional Crematorium. By request no flowers, and any donations can be made to Diabetes Canada, The Kidney Foundation of Canada or Canadian Red Cross. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everybody who knew Philip that played a role in his life. The family would like to say thank you and you are loved.
