CHAISSON, Victor Dicks

Passed away suddenly on January 2, 2021 in Hope, B.C. at the age of 87. Vic is lovingly remembered by his wife, partner and best friend of 61 years, Joan Beverly Chaisson; his daughter, Cathy Morgan and partner Darryl Ketter of Kamloops, B.C.; his son, Grant Chaisson and partner Christine Keogh of Vancouver, B.C. Vic will be sadly missed by his grandsons, (in order of age) Cassidy Morgan, Devon Morgan, Kyle Morgan, Jake Chaisson and Dexter Chaisson; Vic’s East Coast family - his sister, Cathy Baker of Nova Scotia and brother, Mike Chaisson of Prince Edward Island. Victor was predeceased by siblings, Joyce, Edward, Eldon and Donny. Vic was the fourth born to Victor and Edna Chaisson in Summerside, P.E.I. His early years were spent hunting and fishing with his brothers (a past-time he continued well into his later years) and with his father, learning the art of commercial painting and decorating. As a young man, he joined the RCMP Marine Division and quickly found his niche as "Chief Engineer". He was stationed in many rural and sometimes remote areas both on the East and West coasts of Canada, including Prince Rupert, Alert Bay, Ganges-salt Spring Island and Ocean Falls. Vic’s most notable time spent at sea was as junior engineer on the RCMP St. Roch schooner, the first ship to completely circumnavigate North America. Once Vic retired from the RCMP, he eventually hired on to Westcoast Transmission again as Engineer, and eventually fully retired in Hope, B.C. after 29 years of service. Vic spent many hours engaged in hobbies that were dear to his heart, including painting with acrylic, wood carving and wood gathering. He will be sorely missed by all who knew Vic. He loved his family and lived his life to the fullest.
