-

Passed away peacefully on January 10, 2021, ten days before his 89th birthday. Dad is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Delphine (Farrell); and his children: Michael (Janet), Paul (Cherie), Donna (Geary) and Danny, all of Dartmouth. He was the son of the late Tim and Kathleen (Lapierre) Trider. He was proud of his grandchildren: Andrew (Emma), Dartmouth; Keith, Denver, Colo.; Carrie-lee (Nicholas), Halifax; Christopher ( Taylor), Dartmouth; Derek ( Liane), Halifax; and Laura ( Alex), Dartmouth. He was great-grandfather to Isaiah, Ezra and Oliver. He was a Police Officer serving the City of Dartmouth for over 42 years, his last 12 years as Police Chief. He was very proud to be from Dartmouth. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and garden in his younger years. Dad had many talents from carpentry ( he built our family home at the age of 21), to athletics, as a hockey player and hockey coach. He and mom enjoyed vacationing annually in Florida, for over 37 years. Dad seemed to have explored all of Nova Scotia. He loved Sunday drives and had stories of hunting and fishing when he was young, no matter where we drove. His love affair with mom was a true love story. Mom gave Dad exceptional care to the very end. We thank you Mom. We want to thank the staff at 3 West at Dartmouth General Hospital. Special thank you to Dr. Moeller. Cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be a private family interment at a later date. Online condolences: www.coleharbourfuneral.com
