GEORGE, Joyce Mary

-

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joyce Mary George (Rann), loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother of Riverton. Formally of Dartmouth. Mom left us peacefully with her children by her side on the morning of December 21, 2020. Born in Montreal, Joyce lived most of her early life in Stellarton. Joyce graduated from Nursing at the Aberdeen Hospital in 1954, where she worked as the head OR nurse. Joyce was the devoted wife of Sterling George for 54 years. Mom will always be remembered for her love and dedication to Sterling and their four children, Michael, Kevin, Deborah and Stephen. With a growing family, Joyce left nursing to live a full life as wonderful mother and homemaker. Fresh baked banana bread, lemon loaf, peanut butter cookies and other treats coming from Mom’s kitchen are the fond smells of our childhood. When not keeping an immaculate house or running us to hockey, cubs, scouts, guides, figure skating, ballet and piano lessons, mom always loved to share a laugh with friends and family. Predeceased by her loving husband, Sterling George; father, Walter Rann; mother, Agnus Rann (Stott); and brother, Walter Rann. Survived by sister, Aileen Rann; children, Michael George, Kevin George and wife, Brenda; Debbie Lawless, and husband, Dale; Stephen George and partner, Holly; Nannie’s beloved grandchildren, Michaela, Sterling, Quentin, Darby, Emily, Jillian, Brayden, Ryan, Amanda, Mackenzie, Bradley and Evan; and her great-grandchildren, Lila, Lucy and Piper. Our gratitude goes out to the entire staff of Valley View Villa and the medical staff of the 4th floor and Palliative Care at the Aberdeen Hospital. A celebration of Joyce’s life will be announced at a future date and planned for midyear 2021. Memorial donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
