-

Age 65, of Tantallon, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Campbelltown, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Edward and Antoinette (Ouellette) Doucet. Rachel had a varied life - barber, hairdresser and public service member. She enjoyed painting (member of the Maritime Contemporary Art Society), volunteered at the IWK and wrote a collection of Acadian cuisine cookbooks, profits from which went to the IWK Foundation and cancer charities. Her adventurous spirit was always ready for a challenge and she saw quite a bit of the world in her travels. While home she had many happy times spent with her friends at the Tantallon Nubodies for weight training and fitness classes. She also enjoyed learning new skills such as wood turning, welding, general automotive wrenching, upholstery repair and home improvement carpentry skills. All these things she was naturally good at, well maybe not the welding quite so much but she picked up grinding really well. Other time was spent on her beloved flower boxes and feeding the local wildlife. Survived by her husband, Howard; sister, Régina (Georges), Lac-des-lys, N.B.; brothers, Marcel (Mireille), Lac-des-lys, N.B.; Fernand (Gisèle), Campbellton, N.B.; Réjean (Marie Jeanne), Careleton sue Mer, Que.; Omer ( Julie), Mcleods, N.B.; Lucien (Craig), Cambridge Narrows, N.B.; nieces and nephews, Mélanie, Cathy, Mary, Guylaine, Jonathan, Renelle, Nasika and Maryse. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Roger and Réal. In her memory donations may be made to the IWK Foundation. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a service will be held at a later date in New Brunswick. Online condolences can be made to: www.rawalker.ca
