Age 83 of Lawrenceto­wn, passed away on January 21, 2021 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was the eldest son of the late Donald and Eva (Mosher) Wournell. Jim worked for the Federal Government and the Bedford Magazine until he retired. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his siblings. He loved to go berry-picking for blueberrie­s, blackberri­es, raspberrie­s, cranberrie­s and apples and always shared what he picked with his family. He loved vegetable and flower gardening and making jams from the berries he picked. One of his favorite hobbies was chopping wood. He also liked stamp collecting, a hobby he began as a young boy. Jim will always be remembered as a quiet, kind, soft-spoken and caring brother. He will be greatly missed. Jim was predecease­d by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty". He was also predecease­d by his sisters, Muriel and Barbara Atwood. He is survived by brothers, Donald, Dartmouth; and Doug (Carrie), Dartmouth; sisters, Noreen Fleet, Dartmouth; Nancy Hiscock, Timberlea; stepdaught­ers, Victoria Giles and Heather Leblanc; stepson, Clifford White; grandchild­ren; great-grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 28th in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, Rev. Fred Grainger officiatin­g.
