KILROY, David Arthur

On Monday, January 30, 2023, David Arthur Kilroy of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 89. David will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Carole (Johns) Kilroy; and daughters, Lyn Kilroy, Karen (Keith) Richard, and Lisa Clancey. Pup will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Wile, Jeffrey (Colleen) George, Joseph (Catherine) Richard, and Chelsea Clancey; and his great-grandchildren, Avery, Sophie, Samuel, Piper, and Alice. David was born in Dartmouth, and was predeceased by his parents, John and Gladys (Conrad) Kilroy; and brothers, Harold and Jack. David had a long and storied career spanning 40 plus years with many jobs including 10 years as Electrical Officer aboard the Kapuskasing, and positions at Canada Post, Nova Scotia Power, the Public Service Commission, and the Canadian Coast Guard, continuing into his retirement volunteering with FSNA. A proud ‘Dartmouth boy’, David was heavily involved with his community and church; volunteering on various committees and boards too numerous to mention. He had a passion for many sports, including rowing, hockey, football, golf, and in his 30s became a marathon runner. But the most important part of life for David was family and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with those he loved. He was our rock and will be greatly missed. We would like to offer sincere thanks to the staff of Parkland at the Lakes and the Dartmouth General Hospital, and a special thanks to Nurse Tina on 4 West. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 5th in Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, February 6th in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 10 Maple St. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Burial will be at a later date. No flowers by request. In lieu, donations may be made to Terry Fox Foundation or a charity of choice.
