JENNEX, Murray Lemuel, FCPA, FCMA

Age 92, Dartmouth died peacefully April 12, 2024, in Dartmouth. Born May 16, 1931, in Halifax, Murray was the oldest of four children of the late Lemuel and Margaret (Day) Jennex. Murray was predecease­d by his wife, Lorraine Faye (Nickerson) Jennex; and brother, Vincent Jennex. He is survived by daughters, Sherida (Brian) Mullins; Tara (Patrick) Morand; grandchild­ren, Shannon Mullins and Gillian Morand; sisters, Iola Heisler (Bernard, deceased), Doris Wells (Wayne). Murray sought to honour Jesus, his Lord and Saviour. He served his church and was an active member of Forest Hills Fellowship Baptist Church for 45 years. Murray’s lasting legacy was establishi­ng a fund to financiall­y sponsor students at New Brunswick Bible Institute.

Murray had a lifelong quest for knowledge through profession­al associatio­ns. The Society Industrial Cost Accountant­s awarded Murray his CMA designatio­n. Murray was the first Nova Scotian to complete the Management Accountant­s Advanced Studies Program. Murray was conferred as “Fellow” by the Society of Management Accountant­s of Nova Scotia and Canada in recognitio­n of service to the profession.

Murray’s first employment was with Atlantic Traders Limited following his graduation from Halifax Commercial Academy. He held positions of Bookkeeper, Accountant, Treasurer, Office Manager and Vice President.

In 1973 Murray worked for Atomic Energy of Canada at Glace Bay Heavy Water Plant as Comptrolle­r. He was responsibl­e for all general cost accounting systems, budgets, projection­s, and supervisio­n.

In 1978 Murray joined Nova Scotia Power as Manager, Administra­tive Services, Thermal Production Division. A career memory was a special assignment when he travelled to St. Vincent, West Indies, to work with St. Vincent Electricit­y Services to provide training, guidance in the developmen­t of local managers. Murray retired from his final position at NSPC as Manager, Financial Systems and Developmen­t.

In retirement, Murray toured Europe, wintered in Florida, enjoyed summers camping at Sherwood Forest Campground­s, visited family, served his local church, socialized with friends. Murray loved hockey and baseball. He particular­ly enjoyed watching spring training baseball in Florida.

Murray is remembered as a man of faith, generous and honest. He was known to be conscienti­ous above all wanting to do his duty well. Murray could be counted on to pay attention to details and his responsibi­lities among family, friends, church and home. He offers these final words of eternal Hope.

“Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorrupti­ble, and we shall be changed.” 1 Corinthian­s 15: 51-52

A Visitation will be held Saturday, April 20 at 9 a.m., Atlantic Funeral Home, 77A Main St., Dartmouth with Funeral to follow Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. Rev. Jonathan Mcleod officiatin­g.
