Died April 10, 2024 in Halifax. Born on February 28, 1935 in Moncton, NB to the late Helen (Lutz) and Charles Clarke. Anne graduated from Moncton High School in 1951 and entered the Saint John General School of Nursing in 1953, graduating in February 1956 with her R.N. That same year she met Ev, who had just graduated from Dalhousie Medical School. They fell in love and were married the following year - it was to last 65 years. Anne worked at both the Moncton City Hospital and the Saint John General Hospital. Ev's practice and studies kept them moving over the next several years, including two years in Germany. With their three daughters, they eventually settled in Halifax where Ev was a practicing psychiatri­st until his retirement in 1991. Survived by daughters Sharon Smith (Dan Hutt), Dartmouth; Pamela Smithstron­g (Bob Cameron), Musquodobo­it Harbour; Beverley Smith, Hornby Island, BC. As well, five grandchild­ren, two great-grandchild­ren and a number of nieces and nephews. Also very special unofficial­ly adopted daughters Loretta Halleran and Huwaida Medani. She was predecease­d by her husband Everett A. Smith, her brother Randolph Clarke and halfsister­s Elizabeth (Seaman) Cameron and Margaret (Seaman) Moreash, also halfbrothe­rs (Clarke) Chester, William, Garnett, Gerald, Peter and Russell. Cremation by J.A. Snow Funeral Home has taken place and to honour Anne's wishes there will be no visitation or service. We are extremely grateful for the compassion­ate care by the nursing team on 8.3 of the Infirmary ,QEII and a very special dedicated doctor to mom, Dr. Eric Fraunberge­r. We would also like to recognize the devoted care provided to Anne by Bev Russell.
