ROBINSON, Josephine

-

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Josephine Robinson, age 87, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at her daughter Sharon’s home in Amherst, where she had resided for nearly five years. Born in Rose Blanche, NL Josephine was the daughter of the late William and Charlotte (Macdonald) Currie. She moved to Cape Breton at the age of 18 where she met the love of her life, Vinal, who she married and raised two girls with. Josie, as she was known to most, was well known for her quick wit and Newfoundland sense of humour. She loved her gardens, animals (especially cats), dancing, music, card games and a good cup of tea with Carnation milk! The love she held for her grandchildren shone through in her Port Morien home where countless photos served as treasures. Weekends at Nana's house were cherished by her grandchildren, with the scent of freshly-baked bread often wafting through the air and the lively chatter of the CB radio. You couldn’t leave without her slipping a $10 or $20 bill into your hand… “don’t tell your mother” she would playfully whisper. In recent years, Josie formed many friendships in Amherst which greatly enriched her life. Her absence will be missed by many including Sharon’s cats Buddy, Conan and Asher. Josephine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vinal Robinson; her sisters, Katie and Gladys; and her brothers, Matthew, Wallace, and James. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Bruce) Lee and Sharon Robinson; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Jamie), Trevor (Kyla), Krista (Michael), Lucas (Chanelle), and Dustine; and her greatgrandchildren Braydon, Thomas, and Vada, who brought immense joy to her life; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. Josephine's legacy of love, kindness, and simple joys will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace and be reunited with her beloved husband, Vinal, whom she had missed dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Josephine's honor to a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst. A private family interment will take place at a later date in the St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Port Morien, where Josie will be laid to rest with her husband. Online condolences and sharing of memories can be forwarded to the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting the funeral home Facebook page.
