DON’T BLOW OUR BUBBLE

-

According to the Stanfield International Airport arrivals website, there are several flights daily coming into Halifax from points west of the New Brunswick border. My question is why? What need is there for so many flights and why are people coming here? Nova Scotia has done an exemplary job in containing COVID-19 and the latest cases discovered this week are air travel-related.

We are embarking on an Atlantic travel bubble today, which is huge, but it will be burst if we allow flights in. It’s said that visitors must quarantine for 14 days. Who polices that? I know of a few cases where people have said, “I’m going for groceries first, then I’ll quarantine.” Not good enough! You can’t trust people and the poor cashier at the store becomes a victim through no fault of her own.

Next to Newfoundland and P.E.I., we are the closest thing to an island, and it is working so far. So let’s not blow it.
