Reservations on the Nova Scotia Provincial Parks website will open at set times throughout the day.

Group camping sites, yurts and cabins at provincial parks in Nova Scotia are to remain closed this season.

"Opening the Atlantic bubble allows more people to travel and vacation in Nova Scotia," Lands and Forestry Minister Iain Rankin said in a news release Friday.

"We can increase capacity at our campgrounds and still ensure a safe distance between campsites is maintained so everyone can enjoy camping in our province."

Campers must have a confirmed registration before arriving as only registered campers will be allowed to enter provincial campgrounds, the Department of Lands and Forestry said.

Safety measures, such as signs to promote physical distancing and frequent cleaning of commons areas, will be in place at the campgrounds.

Private campgrounds were given the go-ahead to open on June 5 and are now able to operate at 100-per-cent capacity as long as they're following the sector plan.
