Age 92, of the R.K. Macdonald Nursing Home, Antigonish and formerly of Sylvan Valley and Williams Point, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2020 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Williams Point on October 19, 1927, she was the youngest of the late Samuel and Rebecca (Maclean) Macpherson’s 16 children, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of St. Ninian Cathedral Parish and a member of the CWL for 74 years. She was a homemaker most of her life, raising her family on several Canadian Air Force bases across Canada and in Germany. Upon her husband Frank’s retirement in 1971, they returned to Williams Point. She then worked for several years at the R.K. Macdonald Nursing Home as a Nurses’ Aide and volunteere­d for many years at the CWL Opportunit­y Shop and with the Antigonish Lioness Club. All her life, she enjoyed visiting friends and relatives, lively music, and an enthusiast­ic game of cards. She was most proud of her Scottish heritage. She is survived by children, Michael (Patricia Raiche), Winter Harbour, B.C.; Deborah (Robert) Wood, Waterloo, Ont.; Valerie (Sandy) Cormier-cole, Windsor, Ont.; Richard, Ontario; and Frank (Debbie), Antigonish; grandchild­ren, Bill Cormier (Cassandra Martin), Riverview, N.B.; Emma Cormier (Meghan Steacy), Ottawa, Ont.; Valerie Wood (Daniel Lovsted), Ottawa, Ont.; and Matthew Wood (Sarah Madison), Waterloo, Ont.; Tammy (Matthew Macleod), Vicki and Calvin Cormier-cole, Windsor, Ont.; Jennifer, Alberta; and Jessica Cormier, British Columbia; Nathan (Karen), Jenna (Jeremiah Mackay) and Devin (Nicole Grace) Cormier, Antigonish; and great-grandchild­ren, Danielle, Elise, Jacob, Lilly, Khloe, Caleb, Emilee, Elizabeth, Wyatt, Victoria. She was predecease­d by husband, Frank; grandson, Justin "Scoopy" Cormier; brothers, Alex, Harvey, Joe, Roddie, Jimmy, Louis, Alphonsus; sisters, Mamie Wood, Mary Gilbert, Margaret Garish and Veronica; plus four other siblings at a young age. Remains are resting in C. L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish, with visitation on Sunday, July 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Visitors will be expected to respect the guidelines for social distancing set out by the province of Nova Scotia. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 6th at 11 a.m. St. Ninian Place, Antigonish, Rev. Donald Macgillivr­ay presiding, with limited seating available due to COVID restrictio­ns. A recording of the funeral will be available on the funeral home website shortly after the service.
