GRADY, David Alexander

-

Of Port Shoreham, Guysborough Co. It is with great sadness that we announce David’s passing on Friday, July 3, 2020 in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. David, a son of the late Oscar and Jennie (Mackay) Grady, is survived by his wife, Nancy (Merrick) Grady; his children, Amy Grady and Aaron Grady (Beth); grandchildren, Jamie Cogan and Ben Cogan; sisters, Edie Gallant (Ed) and Patti Grady, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Wayne Grady. David was a very hard worker. He spent his working life driving trucks and drove across Canada countless times in his younger years hauling furniture with North American Van Lines. Deciding to stick closer to home, he drove for Conrad’s Transport and Ocean Contractors. Even after "retiring", he continued to work locally. You couldn’t keep him out of a truck! David was a proud member of his community and a member of the Eastern Light Lodge No. 72. He was always eager to help his family, friends, and neighbours in any way he could. David always had a bit of a mischievous streak and had a great sense of humour. A tenacious fellow, he always did what he wanted. He played just as hard as he worked, which is where the mischief often came in. He enjoyed the time he spent in Florida and made many new friends there. He was happy to have been able to visit one last time. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. David’s service will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 2 p.m. in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Boylston with Rev. Heather Manuel officiating. It will be an outdoor service with a reception to follow at the Grady residence, 68 Amy Lane, Macpherson Lake, Port Shoreham. Donations can be made to Guysborough Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
