FOGARTY (Annand), Jean Elizabeth

-

It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Elizabeth (Annand) Fogarty of Belmont, Hants Co., announces her passing. She was born in Middleton on September 26, 1951 and passed away in Palliative Care in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor on July 3, 2020. Jean was a daughter of Dr. Robert and Elizabeth Annand (both deceased 1971). She had happy childhood memories of growing up in Bridgetown with close friends and her sister Joanie. Jean is deeply missed by Steve, who spoke of her as his "bride" of 38 years and the love of his life. She leaves broken-hearted her pride and joy, her sons, Patrick, next door, and son, Colin of Alberta. She also represents a tremendous loss for her only sister, Joan Annand Montgomerie (Duff ). Morgan and Sadie (mother Cass Dixon) who were "the apple of her eye" will greatly miss going down the hill to visit their Grammy. She will be missed as well by her grandchildren, Karma, Tristen and Conner, of Alberta (their mother Tara Stewart). Jean is also survived by Steve’s dearly-loved sisters, Lori, Pat and Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. Jean made an impact on many through her chosen career. She worked for Dartmouth Options Work Activity program for several years before moving to Halifax Options Work Activity Program for the last 28 years. She was the manager there for the last number of years and made a tremendous impact on recipients, staff and teachers. She valued each person for what they had to offer, treated all with kindness and respect, and led by example. She was a compassionate listener, a motivator and a believer. As a colleague recently said, "Jean literally impacted the lives of thousands of people who never had anyone who believed in them the way she did." We are so proud of the contributions she made. Jean was an artist and enjoyed creating beautiful paintings for her home. She grew beautiful flower gardens and took pride in her vegetable garden every year. She loved making pickles and jam and generously shared her talents with others. Jean was predeceased by her parents as mentioned above; her parents-in-law, Anne and Pat Fogarty; and sister-in-law, Janet Fogarty. Steve and Jean’s greatest loss was in 1984 when their 13-year-old son, Robert James Annand Fogarty (Bobby) succumbed to cancer following a yearlong battle with leukemia. All of them gone, but never forgotten. Jean wanted us to thank the health care professionals at the Palliative Care Unit for the loving care provided to her and her family during her stay. It was Jean’s wish that friends, family and colleagues remember her by listening carefully to others, showing respect to all, and striving to make the world a kinder place. Arrangements are under the care of Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when the family can all be together. Donations in memory may be made to the food bank. To have a donation card placed, please call Lindsay’s (902-798-2232). Online condolences may be sent by clicking on "Guestbook" at: www.lindsaysfuneralhome.com
