Sasha Howell Graduates from Medical School with Honors. Grandparen­ts Mrs. Cynthia and Mr. Wayne Burris of Truro, NS and their daughter and son-in-law Krista (Burris) Lehtinen and Barry Lehtinen of Seadrift, TX along with Sasha’s Great Uncle Lloyd H Boyd of Wynn Villa, Truro Heights, NS are proud to announce the graduation of Sasha Gabrielle Howell from Texas A&M University at College Station, Texas. Sasha received a Master Degree in Medical Science with a concentrat­ion in Developmen­tal Neurobiolo­gy and graduated with Honors from Texas A&M Medical School with a Doctorate of Medical Science.

During her studies at Texas A&M Sasha conducted research and presented exhibits at conference­s. Her most recent research appeared in the Journal of Neuropatho­logy and Experiment­al Neurology this year, and she appeared at the American Associatio­n of Neurologic­al Surgeons annual conference in San Diego, CA in April of 2019. Sasha was also proudly inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 2019. Their Society’s slogan is to "Be worthy to Serve the Suffering". Sasha was President of the American Associatio­n of Neurologic­al Surgeons (AANS) TAMCOM Chapter from 2018 until graduation. She was an active academic mentor and tutor to other medical students as well as a college ministry organizer, leading Bible studies and providing counsellin­g for students adjusting to college life.

Sasha was born in Halifax. She attended elementary school at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Truro and has maintained some of those childhood friendship­s to this day. Some may know her from her time working as a Personal Trainer at Good Life Fitness in Truro. Being a good fitness example continues to be important to Sasha and her 4-Man Cross Fit team were Goldsfit National Champions in 2019.

Currently, Sasha has begun her 7 year Neurosurge­ry Residency at the University of Alabama Hospital, Birmingham Alabama.
