Police seek information about 2018 killing

- THE CHRONICLE HERALD

Police have issued an appeal for information as they continue to investigate the killing of Ryan Michael Nehiley in Halifax two years ago.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons call at 25A Clovis Ave. in Spryfield at 8:54 p.m. on Nov. 23, 2018. Officers found Nehiley, 25, inside his residence with a gunshot wound.

Nehiley was transported to hospital, where he died.

Police say the killing was not random and more than one person was involved.

“Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve Ryan’s murder,” police said in a news release Monday marking the second anniversary of the killing.

“They are asking anyone with information, who has not already spoken with police, to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. What may seem like an insignificant detail could be the key to progressing the investigation into Ryan’s murder. “

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call police at 902490-5016 or submit an anonymous tip to Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.

The case is part of the province’s Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offers up to $150,000 for information that leads to a conviction.

Callers must contact the rewards program at 1-888-710-9090, give their name and contact information, and might be called to testify in court. All calls are recorded and the amount of the award is based on the investigative value of the information provided.

Nehiley was the owner of Chronic Releaf Medical Dispensary, a Halifax medical marijuana business.

The Chronic Releaf store on Joseph Howe Drive was firebombed in August 2018. The business relocated to Quinpool Road, where it was raided by police in October 2018.
