It is with deep sadness the family of Barbara Rose ( Leithead) Margeson, 88, New Glasgow, announce her peaceful passing, Tuesday, November 25, 2020 in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her three children. Born in Oxford Junction, she was a daughter of the late Mary Leithead. As a young girl, she moved to Lyons Brook, where she enjoyed many wonderful years. In her late teens she moved to New Glasgow and was employed as a Payroll Clerk at the former DOSCO (Trentonwor­ks) before her marriage to Richard Margeson in 1954. Barbara was a longtime, faithful member of First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow, where she had served as a Cub Leader, Clerk, Sunday school secretary and as the unofficial church historian for many years. She possessed a gift for writing poems and short stories, oil painting and sketching. Barbara enjoyed walking, dancing, skating and spent many enjoyable hours reading. She was lovingly called "Gram" by her seven grandchild­ren and affectiona­lly named, "Old Gram", by her three great-grandchild­ren. She was a lady who possessed deep faith and love for her family. For Barbara, "Life has changed; not ended!" Surviving are daughter, Alison Doyle, Tatamagouc­he; sons, Wayne (Carmel) Margeson, Caribou Island/new Glasgow; Stephen ( Ellen) Margeson, Springvill­e; son- in- law, Jim Doyle, Tatamagouc­he; grandchild­ren, Stephanie, Tara, Conor (Erika), Marshal and Thomas Margeson; Katherine (Tim) Tuttle and Kevin Doyle; greatgrand­children, Lily, Samuel and Charlotte Margeson; sister-inlaw, Dorothy Margeson, Cochrane, Alta.; brothers-in-law, Reg (Reolla) Margeson, Kingston; Ted Margeson (Anne Spencer), King’s Head; Lewis (Kathy) Margeson, Fredericto­n, N.B.; Jim O’brien, Westville; many nieces and nephews. Besides her mother, she was predecease­d by the love of her life and husband of 61 years, Richard Willis Margeson; stepfather, Jim Langille; uncle, Stuart Leithead; sisters-inlaw, Jean Mackinnon, Adeline Smith, Marie Margeson and Ida O’brien; brothers-in-law, Doug Margeson, Ross Margeson, Daniel Mackinnon and Clifford Smith; nephews, Glen and Aaron Margeson. A private funeral service will be held in First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow with Rev. John Dunnett officiatin­g. Interment will be in Heatherdal­e Memorial Gardens. If desired, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to First United Baptist Church or Parkinson Society Maritime Region.
