BARKHOUSE, Edwin "Ned"

-

Age 85 of Dartmouth passed away November 24, 2020 in Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth. Born December 4, 1934, in Windsor, he was one of four children of the late Morris and Emily (Hazel) Barkhouse. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Elizabeth "Betty"; children, Cheryl (Elio), Alana, and Leslie (Colleen); and granddaughters, Adrienna and Mikaela. Edwin graduated from Windsor Academy, Nova Scotia Teachers’ College in Truro, Sir George Williams University in Montreal, and received his B.SC. degree from Oswego State College in New York. He enjoyed teaching Industrial Arts for 35 years, starting in Armdale, then Longueuil, Que., and then Bedford, where he retired in 1990. His woodworking projects are seen in almost every room of the house, and his love of driving took him and his family on many road trips covering North America. While he was passionate about his cars and motorcycles, he loved being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Edwin enjoyed sharing his faith, including talking about the sure hope of the earthly resurrection, as promised in the Bible at John 5:28, 29. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Dartmouth General Hospital who were so kind and gentle in caring for Edwin. Donations in memory of Edwin can be made to Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation, www.dghfoundation.ca/ ways-to-give/ or another charity of their choosing. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 28th at 2 p.m. via zoom video conference.
