GAULTON, Allan "Al"

-

It is with a broken heart that I have to announce the passing of my loving husband, a piece of my soul... Allan "Al" Gaulton, age 74, was born September 3, 1946 and passed away on November 29, 2020. He is survived by his ever loving wife and best friend, Janice (Gaudet); children, Jamie Gaulton (Nancy Meisner) and Tina (Brian) Sharpe; sisters, Maxine (Grant Elliott) Keown, Linda (Wayne) Neil and Janet (Nathan) Savary; cherished grandchildren, Logan Gaulton, Ryan Burke, Jarrett Burke and Josie Burke; many loved nieces and nephews; and well as his "Sweetie Pie", Nazariah "Naz" who brought many unexpected moments of pure joy late in life. He is now reunited with his parents Walter and Eileen (Francis) Gaulton. He was born in Hermitage, N.L., and even though he moved to Halifax with his family at a young age, he was quick to tell anyone he was a "Newfoundlander" with great pride: Al was never one to sit still long. While working full time, visiting his many clients as a counselor with Veteran’s Affairs for over 30 years, he managed to build 16 homes "on the side" for either his own family or others. As well, he said "God only knows" how many sets of kitchen cabinets he built and installed for people he knew or people that friends of his had recommended him to. Building was in his blood, whether homes, garages, fire places, curio Cabinets, decks, he could pretty much build or fix anything that was made from wood or just rebuild it even better than before, having taught himself these skills over the years! He loved being outdoors whether it was fishing in one of his boats or at the shore line, hunting or spending time at one of our trailers, sitting around the fire playing music, he enjoyed it all with so many wonderful friends over the years. There are just too many friends to mention. He was also a long-standing member of the Purcell’s Cove social club, a home away from home where many happy times were had over the years. The family would like to thank the many wonderful nurses and doctors who gave Allan the best care on his stays over the past couple of years at both the Infirmary and VG Site, QEII, and the VON on his final days. Of course, it almost goes without saying, but also the biggest thanks of all would go to every single person whether family, old friends or new, even perhaps a quick acquaintance who ever brought a moment of comfort, a word of encouragement or a reason for a smile or the wonderful laugh... Thank you doesn’t seem enough. There will be no service as requested. However, once the time comes when we are permitted to gather, there will be a celebration of his life which will be announced at that time. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice, especially those connected to children who aways held a special place in his heart.
