NICHOLSON (Cogswell), Shirley Marguerite

-

Our dearlyloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, mother- in-law, sister and friend peacefully slipped into her wings in the comfort of her home, surrounded with love on December 2, 2020. Shirley was born in Kentville on April 17, 1934 to the late Ina and Floyd Cogswell. Our mother was the strong, yet silent thread that kept our family mended. A very generous, quiet and humble lady who dedicated her life to loving, caring and worrying for her family and friends. Momfulfilled her life as a full-time mother of five and later enjoyed working parttime in housekeeping and childcare. While being very frugal in her personal life, she generously donated to every charity possible. Shirley read the paper, watched the news, kept up on current events and loved doing the Lexicon. She was very sensitive to both the positive and negative energy and emotions that came with world events, worried about people she didn’t even know and just wanted everyone to be happy, healthy and safe. Mom’s life’s passion was providing support, love and great family meals, known for her baking skills, always humming as she did her daily tasks with an open heart. Most happy when surrounded by her family, she never missed an occasion and was always ready with the next thoughtful card or gift. Mom kept up on everyone’s daily activities, including the great grandchildren’s busy schedules, always worrying how everyone was doing, always so proud of everyone’s accomplishments. After 60 years of marriage, she was predeased by her husband, Vernon in 2011, now to be reunited; also by her brother, Donnie (Barb). Lovingly survived by her sister, Harriet (Claude) Bourque; brother, Tom (Betty) Cogswell; and by her devoted children, David, Janet ( Leonard) Little, Mark (Wanda), Peter (Brenda), Paul (Penny). She adored her grandchildren: Heidi (Danny) Smeltzer, Ben Little, Angie (Louis) Lapointe, Amy, Hannah, Meloney Nicholson, also Natalie, Gary, Bridget, Lise; and greatgrandchildren: Emma, Abbie, Ethan Smeltzer, Charlotte, Chloe Lapointe. Mom’s love and strength shown toward her end of life will remain in our hearts forever...please honor the memory of our beautiful, loving mother in your daily acts of love and kindness toward each other. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Rev. Cheryl Rafuse will officiate a private service in St. Timothy’s Church followed by interment, Sunrise cemetery at a later date. Rest Mother Dearest, we will hold your love in our hearts forever...

LOVE YOU MORE !!
