Age 75, Brule, passed away suddenly at home on December 7, 2020. Born in 1945 in Pictou, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Sinclair) Corlett. He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Weatherbee) Corlett; son, John Robert (Beverly) Corlett; daughter, Tina Marie (Corlett) Reeves (Bob); grandchild­ren, Brittany (Corlett) Shipley (Ryan), Amy Corlett (Mitchell), Vincent Reeves, Zac Reeves, Chelsea Macintosh; and greatgrand­children, Payton Shipley, Easton Shipley, Keighan Hamm and Ariah Corlett-veinotte. Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by his sister, Ann Corlett. Starting his plumbing career at Frizzell Plumbing and Heating, John quickly moved on starting his own company, J.C. Mechanical Contractor­s Ltd., where he trained numerous apprentice­s over the years. John was one of the founding members of MERIT Nova Scotia. He played an important role in bringing stability to provincial business owners and their work teams. Retiring at the age of 60, John continued to be heavily involved in the community for many years including volunteeri­ng at the North Shore ATV Club, Snowmobile Club and President of the Tatamagouc­he Area Trails Associatio­n which was his latest project that he enjoyed so much. John had a passion for working in his shop each day and he was well-known within the community for his ability to fix almost anything. John and Sandra enjoyed spending winter months in Florida and traveling by motorhome across Canada and parts of the United States, including one of his most memorable trips to Fort Mcmurray to visit Britt. He had a great love for his family and especially enjoyed his grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his latest pet project, the Tatamagouc­he Area Trails Associatio­n or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A private interment will be held at a later date in Truro Heights Cemetery. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
