Age 81 of Brickton, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Ernest and Adelia Dorey. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from September 6, 1957 to November 14, 1969, retiring as Corporal and a RDR Tech. Later, he drove a taxi for many years and was the owner/ operator of Charlie’s Taxi. He also drove school children. He loved fishing, horseback riding and singing and playing his guitar at jam sessions. He was also able to yodel. Gordon will be sadly missed by his wife, June, who he had been together with for 47 years; daughters, Brenda Gillis, Dartmouth; and Gail Dorey; stepsons, Wade (Vanjia) Sabean, Hamilton, Ont.; Warren Sabean (Mary), Wilmot; Glen Sabean (Tracy), Port Lorne; sister, Colleen (Arno) Hansen, Berwick; numerous grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. Besides his parents, Gordon was predecease­d by sister, Rosalind. In keeping with Gordon’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 11th, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. toll free 1-855-825-3448 with Rev. Sweis Ubels officiatin­g. Provincial gathering restrictio­ns only allow attendance for a maximum of 75 family and invited friends. In keeping with health safety protocols, face masks and social distancing must be followed. For those unable to attend in person, a live webcast of the service will be available for viewing on the funeral home website at 1:55 p.m. AST by selecting the "Live Stream" option at the top of the home page. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Donations in memory may be made to Emmanuel Congregati­onal Christian Church or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
