HYSON (Russell), Myrna Maude

-

Of Indian Point, the first born to her late parents Maurice and Rhona Russell (of New Ross). She was predeceased by her siblings, Dorothy "Dot" Reeves and Theodore "Ted" Russell; and is survived by sister, Sylvia "Sib" Turner. Born December 7, 1928, and departed December 9, 2020, having reached her 92 birthday. She leaves behind Ronald Hyson, her husband of 70 years. To many, she was known as the devoted mother of nine children: Darryl (Cindy), Lindy (Carol), Patsy ( Joe), Roxanne ( Frank), Ian (Wendy), Arne (Dianne), Daphne (Jerry), Nadine (Mike) and Craig (Donna), all of whom loved her dearly. Mom would say she was happiest with a baby in her arms so her children were pleased to extend her joy with 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Perhaps her former profession as a one-room school teacher contributed to exceptional multitasking and time management skills. Volunteer hours were spent as president of the local church club, Secretary/treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Volunteer Fire Department, and co-organizer of numerous fundraising events. Additionally, her writing ability allowed periodic news items to be published in the Bridgewater Bulletin. For 22 years she was a self-taught professional cake decorator. Dear mama, we will forever hold you close to our hearts and in our memories pay tribute to the generous, patient, kind, creative and loving soul you were. As a lasting legacy, may we carry forward but a sprinkling of your many glowing attributes. Donations in Myrna’s name can be made to Indian Point Union Church or Park Cemetery, Indian Point, through Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. To read the full obit or to leave online condolences please visit: www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
